Born and raised and being involved in the Charlotte community for more than two decades, I have long
worked for positive change in the poorest neighborhoods in the city. My friends and I now feel that the
time has come for me to seek elected office and seat at the table. I want to bring fresh ideas and positive
solutions for District 4 by running for City Council.
As you know, I have always been very concerned about jobs and justice. I believe there are workable
solutions available that will stop the figurative forms of genocidal-like gentrification. I would like to see
more jobs and equitable justice in District 4. I am committed to ending the school to prison pipeline.
Another important issue is Community Development. We are allowing money hungry developers to steal
the homes of our seniors who cannot afford to pay inflated property taxes. We need to find ways to stop
the predatory practices of developers who care more about making a dollar than making a difference.
To succeed in this effort, I need to mount an aggressive campaign. My opponent has not made jobs and
justice a high priority. It's for these reasons that I have decided to offer the voters of District 4 a real
choice in this election for City Council.
This campaign will also require a strong and organized grassroots organization. I have been visiting and
listening to the concerns of District 4 voters. With brochures, flyers, yard signs, advertising to place, and
District 4 to canvass, I cannot do this alone. That is why I'm inviting people that know me well to join
my Campaign and help make a real difference.
An early contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500 or $1,000 made payable to “The Campaign to Elect
Charlene Henderson”, will help raise the initial funds needed to launch the campaign and get our
message out to the residents of District 4.
Our goal is to raise $10,000. I ask for your support in meeting this goal. ActBlue and Check donations are accepted and payable to "Campaign to elect Charlene Henderson" 3108 Prosperity Church Rd, Charlotte, NC 28269 I hope that you’ll help me to bring better
government to the people of District 4.
Thanks in advance for your encouragement and support. I look forward to hearing from you.
